about

Have you ever heard of the band Emo Summer? They are known as the ones who coined the term "extremo," a genre more extreme and more emo compared to something wimpy af like emoviolence. It is also rife with Catcher in the Rye references. Some would tell you that it's a joke, while others would scoff at your emo n00bness if you even dare ask wtf it all means.

Now, this is where The Kate Dollenmayer Collective comes in. Comprised of friends who's hanging out atm, they are more of a loose collective filled to the brim with extremoness, rather than just another band like Indian Summer or Orchid or whateverthefuck. TKDC were the new torch bearers of extremo after they picked up the ball Emo Summer dropped when they broke up back in 2001. They took the "don't call it a joke band" seriousness of the anti-joke, massaged some lube on it, and then applied it to their own little scene.

The initial result is this short, sloppy, violent, and of course extremo to the core EP that they *tried* to press on a floppy disk back in '08. One friend of theirs said this reminded him of the chaotic 90s San Diego emo scene. We would have agreed, if only he added "but on hella crack." If asked what's the band's crowning achievement, the answer would probs be "making the old Musicbanter forum hate us."

You could still check out their old myspace that has their other songs not on the EP. Go do that if only to hear their absurd cover of Stereolab's Lo Boob Oscillator, which they turned into a PSA on cyberbullying. Yes, we know. Wtf right?

(btw, if you have any way of ripping those songs on myspace, do get back at us about that because we need a copies of all that shit)
